Scenarios

I am creating a set of scenarios for students in the early stages of their career of learning Russian. Each scenario imagines a situation in which some of the vocabulary and grammar that students have learned would be used in a work or other real-life environment. The idea is to connect learning to real-life tasks and authentic situations. The lesson provides the scaffolding for students to feel successful at tasks even when they do not yet have all of the skills necessary to complete that skill. For example, in the clothing scenario, students imagine they work in a clothing store. They must sort boxes, check shipments, send email when a shipment is inaccurate, leave a voicemail for their boss, and send text messages. Though they do not have the vocabulary yet to compose a whole email, the lesson asks them to drag key elements into the email in a realistic interface, giving them a sense of accomplishment and acquainting them with some of the interface and language associated with sending emails in a professional context. In 2019 I am working on transitioning the original scenarios, which were made in Adobe Captivate, to H5P.

Here you can see screenshots from some of the scenarios and there are links to several versions of them below.
